Amir Dallal

Product Leader · AI in Production & Connected Platforms

Product leader building connected platforms from zero to enterprise, across three startup-to-acquisition journeys. At Siemens I owned strategy and roadmap for Toggled iQ while leading a distributed engineering team across the US and Spain, staying hands-on through technical sales, QA, and Tier 3 support - shipping GenAI in production on a platform spanning 1,000+ buildings. I now run an independent practice building websites, commerce storefronts, and AI-embedded tooling for small businesses while I look for my next senior product role. I build working products with AI daily, and believe technology should be transparent, trustworthy, and designed for the people who depend on it.

Selected Impact

1,000+buildings on platform

Lighting App to Building Platform

40,000+ devices · 2x+ SaaS revenue YoY · 100x user growth

Expanded a commercial lighting controls app into a comprehensive smart building platform spanning environmental monitoring, energy metering, leak detection, and occupancy - growing to 1,000+ buildings and 40,000+ devices with 2x+ SaaS revenue growth year over year and 100x user growth.

AI in Production

Tagging accuracy ~60% → 95% · onboarding days to hours

Designed and prototyped a hybrid semantic normalization engine - regex plus a local LLM handling roughly 80% of the work, with a cloud model reserved for the hard cases - that classifies heterogeneous device data to unified schemas (BRICK, Project Haystack, W3C WoT), then hardened it into production with engineering and validated classifications against real buildings. Tagging accuracy went from about 60% to 95%, onboarding from days to hours, and cloud token costs fell roughly 80%.

1person - every product function

Full-Stack Product Function

Distributed team (US & Spain) · sales · QA · fulfillment · Tier 3

Led a distributed engineering team across the US and Spain - task assignment, backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and scope calls across backend, mobile, web, and edge gateway - and ran every other function a lean product organization needs: pre-sales and technical sales, all demos from installer walkthroughs to executive presentations, all QA and release management, edge gateway and third-party device fulfillment, and Tier 3 technical support.

Frictionless Onboarding

Contractor-only process converted to self-service

Redesigned a complex BLE mesh commissioning workflow into a guided mobile experience - up to 90% less installer setup time than competing commissioning systems, and a contractor-only process converted to self-service.

Validated Real-World Outcomes

U.S. DOE pilot with Lawrence Berkeley National Lab · 8+ years enterprise retention

Supported a U.S. Department of Energy pilot with Lawrence Berkeley National Lab achieving up to 75% energy reduction in commercial deployments. Sustained 8+ years of enterprise customer retention through continuous, evidence-based product evolution.

Work History

Independent Product & Technology Consultant

Amir Dallal, Independent Practice

Sep 2026 – Present · Portland, OR

Independent practice for small businesses: websites, e-commerce storefronts, AI-embedded internal tooling, and smart home design - the same zero-to-one product work, at small-business scale.

  • Build and host e-commerce storefronts on Orchard, the multi-tenant commerce platform I architected and operate - merchants run their own products, orders, refunds, inventory and reporting from a self-serve admin, while I own the storefront, the integrations, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Design and ship marketing sites and web applications end to end: information architecture, visual design, build, performance, accessibility, structured data, and deployment.
  • Embed AI where it removes real work rather than where it demos well - estimating and quoting tools, back-office automation, document and data extraction, and internal assistants grounded in a business's own content.
  • Design, install and support smart home and security systems for homes and small businesses: device selection across vendors, network and protocol architecture, automation logic, and configuration - informed by commercial building-automation product work and a personal deployment of 60+ devices from 15+ vendors.
