Overview
De Alma y Corazón ("Of Soul & Heart") is a hand-crafted gift + ritual brand founded by Olivia and Emily. The brand, voice, photography, and day-to-day operations are theirs; I designed and built the storefront for them. The bilingual EN/ES Next.js site features editorial typography, a founder narrative on Our Story, an "About this piece" product detail format, and a gift-subscription flow with a handwritten-note input. Available at ofsoulandheart.com.
The Problem
Olivia and Emily, co-founders of De Alma y Corazón ("Of Soul & Heart"), needed a quiet, bilingual storefront that reflected their hand-crafted gift + ritual brand - the antithesis of generic DTC growth-hack templates.
The Solution
Designed and built the full Next.js storefront on their brief: bilingual EN/ES content surfaces, editorial typography, founder narrative on Our Story, and a gift-subscription flow. The brand, voice, photography, and operations are theirs; the design system and codebase are mine.
Impact
- 1Bilingual EN/ES storefront available at ofsoulandheart.com - full catalog, gift-subscription flow, and editorial Our Story page
- 2Custom design system in service of an editorial, anti-DTC brand voice
- 3Optional password gate so the founders can stage the site privately or open it publicly when ready
Key Decisions
- Brand, voice, photography, and operations belong to the founders (Olivia and Emily) - my role was designer and engineer, not operator
- Built the full stack end-to-end with Claude Code as pair-programmer, on the founders' brief
Lessons Learned
Building someone else's brand is its own discipline - the job is to make their voice render, not to insert your own
